Alaska Quilt Cruise: July 2020

I'll be teaching on another Deb Robert's World of Quilts Cruise in July 2020! The last time was a blast and I hope you will consider joining us next summer. In this one week cruise aboard Holland America's Koningsdam, round trip from Seattle, we will tour the waters off the Southeastern coast of Alaska, visiting Ketchikan, Juneau and Sitka, as well as a day in Victoria, British Columbia. Spend your at sea days quilting and learning new techniques, and relaxing aboard ship. (I highly recommend ziplining while at port, and of course visiting the amazing quilt shops of Southeast)! For more information, or to sign up for the cruise (bring your friends!) please visit www.worldofquiltstravel.com and click on the Alaska Quilt Cruise for PARADISE July 5-12, 2020 - and let them know you heard it from me!

New for 2019: Aurora Nights Series

Aurora Nights: 5-Block Complete Quilt

Aurora Nights series consists of five new patterns that can be made individually or as a group (as shown above). This series celebrates the beauty of the aurora, the Alaskan landscape and the wildlife that roam here. All laser kits are made with Hoffman California Fabrics' beautiful batiks. View them all on my New Designs or Wildfire Designs pages, or shop here now to get your patterns or kit today!

What makes WDA laser kits special? I pre-wash all the applique fabrics to shrink, block and remove excess dye and all my kits use Lite Steam-a-Seam 2 as the fusible webbing. This fusible is more expensive then other non-permanent fusibles out there, but the only one I use because of its permanent bond. When used properly there's no need to stitch down your appliques. See my Tips page for step-by-step instructions on how I use Steam-a-Seam fusible web.

Traditional Kits Clearance!

So many kits, so little me. I need to pair down my kit selection since it's just getting too big for my little house and garage to handle (let alone for me)! I don't get a lot of orders for traditional style kits anymore (the "you cut it" type), and so I've decided to discontinue making them altogether. Laser is just the way today! I have a small seletion left, particularly with many of my holiday designs, and am offering 30% off all traditional kits while they last. See the Kits Retail page to get yours before they're gone. Use discount code KITS30 at check out for your 30% discount.

History of Wildfire Designs Alaska

I was born in Kenai, Alaska and raised in the family fabric store, the Kenai Fabric Center with my mother, grandparents, aunts, and later a sister and several cousins; all of whom taught me to sew, crochet, knit, and so much more. While in college I worked with my family at their fabric store, where I found a talent for creating samples of wallhangings and preparing kits. After several years I decided to try designing on my own. My first pattern, Caribou on the Kenai Flats, was inspired by my hometown.
